SERVICES

We provide a range of assessment and therapeutic services to children, adolescents, adults and couples.

CONSULTATION

Your first appointment will be a consultation. The goal of this 90-minute session is to get to know you, learn about your concerns and problems and develop a plan for helping you. This plan may involve a recommendation for further assessment or psychotherapy. This process is a collaborative one and integrates your feedback about the proposed plan. If you have a problem that is not within our area of expertise, we are often able to connect you with other resources in the community to help you find the right service to meet your needs.

We offer comprehensive psychological (diagnostic) assessments when clients want to better understand why they are experiencing particular challenges or distress. These assessments help determine what treatment approach will best service your needs or determine if a clinical problem (such as a mood disorder or ADHD) is interfering with your functioning. This type of assessment involves clinical interviewing and completing standardized questionnaires to assess your symptoms and functioning.
We provide individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults for a number of issues ranging from general life stress to more serious psychological problems, such as anxiety, depression and trauma-related disorders.  Our therapy approaches are integrative, tailored to each specific client’s needs and include evidenced-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Parental Guidance (PG). Some of the issues we commonly see in therapy include:

Our practice offers therapies and tools to help couples rebuild and strengthen relationships. Since relationships can come up against many varieties and intensities of challenge, effective therapeutic approaches must be flexible and adaptable to be of value. Our training and understanding of evidence-based therapies such as the Gottman method and Emotionally Focused therapy can make a difference in helping couples to deal with conflict and reduce negative repetitive patterns. Learning how to improve mutual attunement and understanding, especially when engaging in conflicts, can help with deepening emotional connections and repairing hurts from the past.
